Dog Love Part 1 "Dog Love Part 1" Original Size: 9x12 Paper: Strathmore Bristol Smooth Medium: Copic Alcohol Markers Created for the "Labor of Love - A Traveling Portfolio of ALWCA Members Description: Part 1 of 2, here we see a girl and her dog in a loving embrace. Her dog of course jumping for a hug and reaching to lick her face as a show of affection. In sight are all of her tools to take care of her goofy puppy. Look for the tools in Part 2!	Dog Love Part 2 "Dog Love Part 2" Original Size: 9x12 Paper: Strathmore Bristol Smooth Medium: Copic Alcohol Markers Created for the "Labor of Love - A Traveling Portfolio of ALWCA Members Description: Here we see the dog from Dog Love Part 1, having been freshly groomed. Her hair is scattered around her in very large piles. Notice however that despite being groomed she doesn't seem to have lost any hair! Scattered in the grass are all of the tools from Part 1.

However, the Rainbow Eucalyptus Tree is real! Those colors are real! The tree is native to the Philippines. He beckons then to go through the bone gates of Hell where the souls will be received by dancing spirits with an evil twist.
Voodoo Doll - Self Sabatoge "Voodoo Doll - Self Sabatoge" Original Size: 9x12 Paper: Strathmore Bristol Vellum Medium: Copic Alcohol Markers Description: Voodoo dolls are tools known as effigy dolls used to inflict pain or heal and take away pain others. This piece shows a voodoo doll, leaning against candles that haven't set it afire yet, but will at any moment/ The pins are all in places that the dolls user has experienced from an injury, physical or mental. The user is inflicting the pain upon themselves with each pin.	Monster - Anxiety "Monster - Anxiety" Original Size: 9x12 Paper: Strathmore Bristol Smooth Medium: Copic Alcohol Markers Description: Meet - Lebensmude, a monster with four arms, 6 arms with eyes, a dent in his head, 2 different sized eyes and goofy teeth. Lebensmude is a monster that changes colors with its current mental health status. Here it is struggling with intense anxiety and has no idea what to do to help itself. Lebensmude means "life-tired" in German.
White Rabbit, Straight Jacket "White Rabbit, Straight Jacket" Original Size: 14x11 Paper: Strathmore Bristol Smooth Medium: Copic Alcohol Markers Description: Illustrating the song: White Rabbit by Egypt Central. The lyrics - "Your magic white rabbit, your white room, straight jacket... We follow like Alice, and just keep diving down the hole. We're falling and we're loosing control. You're pulling us and dragging us down this dead end road." This illustrates the deep mental confusion that comes from mental torture.	Hallucinagena "Hallucinagena" Original Size: 9x12 Paper: Strathmore Bristol Smooth Medium: Copic Alcohol Markers Description: A character whose special abilities are only activated through the use a hallucinogenic drugs and the only way she can interact with the real world.
Khaoi "Khaoi" Original Size: 9x12 Paper: Strathmore Bristol Smooth Medium: Copic Alcohol Markers Description: The traditional illustration of koi fish swimming in a circle as a form of balance depicting the yin yang is what this piece is based off of. However this illustration shows two beautiful monster khaoi keeping chaos and order in balance.	Thunder Snow "Thunder Snow" Original Size: 12x9 Paper: Strathmore Bristol Smooth Medium: Copic Alcohol Markers Description: A powerful mythical being, pulling from two forces of nature - lightning and ice. This intense beast has command over the snow, the ice and the electricity that builds up in the atmosphere. His name is Thundersnow. He is to be respected and feared.
Firefly "Firefly" Original Size: 9x12 Paper: Strathmore Bristol Smooth Medium: Copic Alcohol Markers Description: This illustration is based off of the song - "Firefly" by Breaking Benjamin. This lines from the song is the basis for this piece, "Firefly, could you shine your light, now I know your ways, 'cause they're just like mine... Bring me your enemies, lay them before me and walk away". These words brought forth this image of a firefly facing it's enemies, only lit up by the fireflies own light.	The Door "The Door" Original Size: 11x17 Paper: Strathmore Bristol Smooth Medium: Copic Alcohol Markers Description: This illustration depicts a door. Not just any door, but a door that appear to lead to nowhere when you look behind it, yet when you open the doors a blinding light shines forth beckoning you to come in and experience its horrors.

Each similar, but also very different. This is a unique version of the bat man that lives deep in your nightmares.	A Murder "A Murder" Original Size: 9x12 Paper: Strathmore Bristol Smooth Medium: Copic Alcohol Markers Description: 11 crows gathered in an old graveyard. 11 crows, a murder, sitting, plotting, being an omen. What does this omen mean for you when you see a murder of crows within your sight?
The Ocean Bleeds "The Ocean Bleeds" Original Size: 9x12 Paper: Strathmore Bristol Smooth Medium: Copic Alcohol Markers Description: Based off these lines from the song, "Catalyst" by Linkin Park: "Oh, like memories in cold decay Transmissions echoing away far from the world of you and I where oceans bleed into the sky." The word is in such chaos that the sea boils and gravity shifts, the fabric of things completely alters and the ocean bleeds into the sky.	Don't Move "Don't Move" Original Size: 9x12 Paper: Strathmore Bristol Smooth Medium: Copic Alcohol Markers Description: Are you afraid of the dark? Of what lies in the shadows? Do you hear a noise late at night and a shiver runs up your spine? Do you see movement in the shadows? Cover your eyes, stay still, don't move or they will see you.

We have a black dog hanging over us whispering in our ear, menacing us from the darkest areas inside ourselves. All we want to do is hide, but no matter what we do our black dog is always there. Not all of us have had an emotional breakdown accompanied with a panic attack. Those of us who have though it feels like we are completely coming apart, it feels like a heart attack and like everything in the world is broken and out to get you. The woman in this piece is literally coming apart. She is melting away (as in meltdown).

Drawn from different facial expressions and ethnicities in order to observe the uniqueness of all eyes. Including the eye ball itself which underneath the skin.	Voices "Voices" Original Size: 9x12 Paper: Strathmore Bristol Smooth Medium; Copic Alcohol Markers Description: Based off of these lines in the song "Voices" by Motionless in White: "Voices in my head again, beating me in a war I can't win, I can hear them now, trapped in a game inside my own skin. And I don't know myself anymore, they're pulling me under." The angry voices taunting hurtful words that play over and over again in your head. Some from negative self talk, some from emotional abuse.
My Bleeding Heart "My Bleeding Heart" Original Size: 12x9 Paper: Strathmore Bristol Smooth Medium: Copic Alcohol Markers Description: They say words can never hurt you, but this is a lie. We tend to ignore the emotional abuse as its not readily visible. The scars from emotional abuse are absolutely there. Stabbing at your heart and mind. Here we see a bleeding heart, with no end to the blood in sight. The words of emotional abuse boldly present and bleeding.	Silence "Silence" Original Size: 9x12 Paper: Strathmore Bristol Smooth Medium: Copic Alcohol Markers Description: In an abusive relationship, the abuser gas lights and makes you believe that what your feeling is not real. And, your abuser gas lights and threatens you into not speaking. They silence you and make you feel as if no one would believe your story as it is all lies. They sew your mouth shut and make you put on a fake smile.
Crush Me "Crush Me" Original Size: 9x12 Paper: Strathmore Bristol Smooth Medium: Copic Alcohol Markers Description: Sometimes when something really hurts emotionally your heart physically hurts. You feel this sharp pain in your chest. It could be a disaster, the loss of a loved one, betrayal... these things crush you causing that pain. This piece is a representation of that emotional hurt turned physical. Here the heart is being crushed.	Wash Away My Colors "Wash Away My Colors" Original Size: 11x17 Paper: Strathmore Bristol Smooth Medium: Copic Alcohol Markers Description: Based off of these lines from the song "My Demons" by Starset: "Mayday, mayday The ship is slowly sinking they think I'm crazy but they don't know the feeling. They're all around me circling like vultures. They wanna break me and wash away my colors." Here we have a woman in grayscale the rain is washing away her colors which we see slipping away from her in the pools of water.
Sweet Surrender "Sweet Surrender" Original Size: 11x17 Paper: Strathmore Bristol Smooth Medium: Copic Alcohol Markers Description: Depression can feel like you are drowning. You're in a continuous fight to bring yourself out of the deep dark ocean of emotions. Wouldn't it be easier to surrender? The sweet surrender of giving in and letting the ocean of emotions consume you.	Exotic Lethal Mermaid "Exotic Lethal Mermaid" Original Size: 9x12 Paper: Strathmore Bristol Smooth Medium: Copic Alcohol Markers Description: We have this idea that the mythological mermaids in our stories are elegant, beautiful, innocent and childlike. But, these creatures are not human, even if they have human features. They live and thrive in the deepest parts of the ocean. They are efficient, deadly predators. They are hauntingly beautiful. But, be warned there is no humanity in them.

Silent - A Croatian Story "Silent - A Croatian Story" Original Size: 12x9 Paper: Strathmore Bristol Smooth Medium: Copic Alcohol Markers First Place Winner of the International World Association of Artists Illustration Category Competition Description: A street devoid of human life. Full of discarded belongs, trash, broken windows, glass littering the street. It's obvious ta disaster happened. What was it? We see the tentacles of the suspect coming out of the windows and the sewers, All we see is the word Silent.
I Make My Own Way "I Make My Own Way" Original Size: 9x12 Paper: Strathmore Bristol Smooth Medium: Copic Alcohol Markers Description: The freedom of the skies, we look up and imagine what it would be like to fly. The serene peace of being hundreds of feet in the air, touching the clouds, soaring with the butterflies on their air current. She makes her own way, with a patchwork hot air balloon made from the scraps of whatever cloth she could find. The sky is hers.	Break My Chains "Break My Chains" Original Size - 11x17 Paper: Strathmore Bristol Smooth Medium: Copic Alcohol Markers Description: Life can feel like it shackles you. All of the people, work, commitments, trauma, politics... of the world have a chain of their own on you. A phoenix is used as a symbol for rebirth and liberation. Here we have a phoenix passing through the chains on this persons hands and melting the chains off. The hot metal of the chains does not burn the hands as this is a moment of freedom.
True Self "True Self" Original Size: 9x12 Paper: Strathmore Bristol Smooth Medium: Copic Alcohol Markers Description: "Your power is your radical self, find it." - Maya Angelou. This piece is a commentary on the glass ceiling. Women have been seen throughout the majority of history as lesser than men. Even though women have fought for equal rights, women are still facing sexism. Especially in the workplace. Where for the same job as a man a woman makes $0.80 on the $1.00 to a man's salary.	Tear in Space Time "Tear in Space Time" Original Size: 12x9 Paper: Strathmore Bristol Smooth Medium: Copic Alcohol Markers Description: A representation of a tear in time and space. A tear in the fabric of our reality.
Baby Doll Heads "Baby Doll Heads" Original Size: 12x9 Paper: Strathmore Bristol Smooth Medium: Copic Alcohol Markers Description: Dolls have been around for a long time and used for many different purposes. But, despite their positive uses... we still have thousands of stories of haunted or possessed dolls. Here we have a pile of doll heads from a factory, the eyes are glowing green because of possession. All of these dolls are about to be made and go to a home already possessed with a demon or ghost.	Reaper of Souls "Reaper of Souls" Original Size: 9x12 Paper: Strathmore Bristol Smooth Medium: Copic Alochol Markers Description: The opposite of the tree of life, this is the tree of death. A portal to the underworld. The tree greedily feeds on lost souls, enjoying every bite.

Raven Skull "Raven Skull" Original Size: 12x9 Paper: Strathmore Bristol Vellum Medium: Copic Alcohol Markers Description: A beautiful raven skull, so tiny and absorbed in the wilderness it came from. Becoming one and going back into the earth.
